For as long as I can remember I’ve always had interest in the human body, as a child I found myself curious about the body’s systems and microorganisms. Often times, the regeneration of bones and tissues was more appealing than the people around me. I began playing sports, basketball in particular, at a young age and achieving a “perfect body” was something I found myself obsessing over. As the kid doing push ups for fun and engaging in extra physical activities most kids my age wouldn’t consider, I found it troubling when my body essentially began breaking down because old injuries never had a chance to heal. At the age of 19, during a very important time of my collegiate-athletic career, I decided to end my ties with basketball as a student athlete, after playing competitively for over 10 years. Despite the sudden change, I was able to continue my schooling and enjoying my college experience. A big weight was lifted off my shoulders but even with the change of pace, my body wasn’t recovering and the constant aches and pains remained. In the meantime, I began noticing new (strange) body odors, acne, dry skin, developing frequent headaches and ultimately became emotionally unstable. The body that I loved so much felt terrible and it made me confused. A year later, I was introduced to healing, by a diet known as the alkaline diet. Embarking on this new journey meant doing something I’d never done before, cutting out the recommended sugar, starch and meat. this awakening not only led me into earning a certification of detoxification, but also led me on a five month backpacking journey throughout Central America; particularly Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras. throughout my travels, i was able to study with legendary herbal healers such as Alfredo "DR. Sebi" Bowman, at The Usha village in La ceba, honduras. dedicating myself to this healthy lifestyle resulted in a 180 degree turn as my weight shifted from 210 lbs to 185 lbs in two weeks. In just a short time I went from unmotivated to enthusiastic and I wanted to explore more forms of healing. I tried things like meditation, breathing techniques and yoga bin-aural beats but ultimately it came down to how I was unconsciously treating my body all my life. Toxicity in the body causes things like diseases, body odors, dry skin, ache, menstruation issues, depression and self-harming behaviors. To me, this is the root cause to all destruction. With Internal Showers, changing our diets and exercise we all can begin our journeys to a healthier, happier life. |
